How the engine of a used Toyota RAV4 reacted to the new oil from Turkey
Toyota car engines have long been known for their reliability, but provided that they use fluids and lubricants of the recommended quality. However, it is now difficult to find products from trusted manufacturers, and many previously unknown “oil” brands have appeared on sale. How not to make a mistake when choosing a lubricant for the engine of your “Japanese”? We believe that the best way to answer this question is with the results of real sea trials with a particular lubricant, performed directly on the machine.

The current situation in our market of motor oils for Toyota cars does not inspire their owners with their former optimism. Especially those owners of the “Japanese” who, before the start of well-known events, relied exclusively on original lubricants and other consumables.

Meanwhile, even in branded service centers, which until recently had an “Official Dealer” sign, cars of this popular Japanese brand are mostly maintained with non-genuine car parts and technical fluids, including lubricants. Fortunately, non-genuine motor oils have appeared on the market in the past year, including those from Middle Eastern countries, including Turkey.

These automotive lubricants are now actively promoted in our market. However, for many of these products, little data has yet been collected on real-world performance, in particular viscosity, detergent and protective properties, as well as resource suitability.

In this sense, for Toyota owners, any information about the tests of new types of motor oils, which are carried out directly on cars of this brand, is very useful and in demand. Today we bring to your attention the results of one of these tests, organized by the experts of the AvtoVzglyad portal in collaboration with the colleagues of the AvtoParad resource.

We are talking about practical sea trials of “synthetics” Fulltech 0W20 brand Opet (photo above). This oil was poured into the 2-liter M20A-FKS engine of the popular Toyota RAV4 crossover last fall. Before the start of the tests, his speedometer showed fifty thousand kilometers. After pouring in Fulltech 0W20 oil, the SUV skated with it for a dozen more.

All this time the car was used daily in Moscow and the Moscow region, and for the most part – in a heavy city cycle. Upon completion of the test, the lubricant was drained and sent to one of the leading fuel and lubricant centers for analysis. By comparing the results of the analysis of this “development” with the typical values of fresh Fulltech 0W20 oil from Opet, we were able to evaluate the real operational capabilities of this product.

The results of the studies, presented in the form of a comparative table, turned out to be more than interesting. Let’s put it this way: they not only surprised us, but also delighted us. More specifically, the suitability of Fulltech 0W20 “synthetics” can be rated as “excellent”. According to rough estimates of experts, this oil made it possible to drive another 2-3 thousand km before replacing it. However, the 10,000 km check “worked out” during the test is a very solid service for Russian conditions.

At the same time, more importantly, the engine oil showed good stability of operating parameters. As can be seen from the table, this applies to both the viscosity and the protection parameters of the lubricant. The same can be said about the properties of detergents. The values of the noted indicators during the tests, of course, decreased, but remained at a fairly high level.

But, as it turned out, the benefits of Opet oil are not limited to the above equations. At the end of the test, experts compared the physico-chemical properties of Fulltech 0W20 “in operation” with those of fresh genuine Toyota Engine Oil 0W20 AFE. And it turned out that in a number of important parameters it is in no way inferior to the “original”, and in some respects even surpasses it. Which once again confirms the high quality of the Turkish oil tested by us.
