Slow electric car sales in Russia grew 244%

According to the results of the first half of 2023, explosive growth in the sale of electric vehicles was recorded in our country. However, this does not mean at all that citizens have finally tasted the “electric trains” and have begun to storm the dealers en masse to buy an “innovation” for their garage.

According to Avtostat Info, 4,455 new electric vehicles were found in our country in the first half of 2023. This result is 244% higher than in the same period last year, when dealers sold 1,304 electric trains. On the scale of the market – crumbs!

It is also interesting that the most popular “green car” was the Volkswagen ID.4, which sold 598 units. The second place was taken by the Russian-Chinese sedan Evolute i-Pro (528 units). And this despite the fact that Evolute is assembled in the Russian Federation, is sold at a discount under the state aid program and has a full warranty. Third place was taken by Tesla Model Y (398 units), fourth place was taken by the Evolute i-Joy crossover (340 units) and Geely Zeekr 001 (266 units) completed the top five.

We also note that buyers bought 1,060 electric vehicles in June alone, which is many times more than in the first month of last summer (178 cars). Still, this is a fairly modest result. Although it is understandable: the development of “green” transport is hampered by the lack of the necessary infrastructure and its high cost.
