A new package of anti-Russian sanctions has been launched in Japan, banning the export of 758 types of goods to our country. It also includes restrictions on shipping a wide variety of vehicles to Russia.

The goods that are not allowed to be exported from the Land of the Rising Sun to the Russian Far East include cars (of any year of manufacture) with a displacement of more than 1.9 liters, as well as all types of hybrids and electric cars.

It is known that about 200,000 used cars from Japan have arrived in Russia in the past year. This year the volume of such purchases has increased. Before the introduction of a new sanctions package, up to 10% of all used cars sold through special auctions on the islands went to our country. In the delivery range, according to some experts, about half of the volumes were “hybrids”, about 5% – for “electric trains”. And for cars with large-capacity internal combustion engines – about 20%.

For example, the Japanese authorities plan to reduce the volume of official exports of their vehicles to the Russian Federation by almost four times. However, Russian players in this market are not prone to panic. They started to set up channels to import cars not directly, but through third countries, including China and Kyrgyzstan.
