Mercedes-Benz has finally closed access to its software to Russian dealers. Of course, the “online hunger” will not cause a complete collapse, but it will certainly lead to an increase in machine maintenance and repair.

According to Izvestia, citing the MB Rus distribution company and the Russian Automobile Dealers association, the digital démarche of the Germans, in addition to problems with repairs, will also cause problems with updates for new cars received online.

MB Rus noted that they would continue to service and repair vehicles “based on accumulated experience and knowledge”. In other words, numerous Russian owners of cars with a three-pointed star can no longer count on the manufacturer’s qualified mobile technical support.

To meet warranty obligations, dealers today already need to look for backup channels for obtaining technical information: connecting to services via European IP addresses, using third-party software and equipment from marketplaces. Certainly, such methods will not benefit the capricious technique from Europe. By the way, a similar situation applies not only to Mercedes-Benz, but also to other representatives of the great German trio.

Recall that the Russian assets of the Germans, including a plant in Esipovo near Moscow, went to the Avtodom holding company, a structure that has long been engaged in the sale and maintenance of premium cars. Dealers do not refuse service support, but they acknowledge that service issues exist, including online diagnostics.
