By the end of 2023, the plant plans to master the production of seven models of this Chinese brand alone (X55 is the third in a row). While the Russian company assembles five more models in addition to BAIC – three Kaiyi (E5 sedan, X3 and X3 Pro crossovers) and two SWM crossovers – G01 and G05 Pro.
BAIC X55 is an advanced feature. In its arsenal is a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 188 horsepower. Of. and a 7-speed “robot”, which allows the car to turn a hundred in 7.8 seconds. The trunk is not so big: only 350 liters, but with electronics there are no problems. There is a 360-degree video review, park assist, adaptive cruise, lane and blind spot monitoring and much more. There are even “smart”, recessed door handles, supposedly trained using electrical impulses to “shake” themselves out of snow and ice when they meet the owner.
Given the heavy armor of the BAIC X55, additional equipment had to be installed on the conveyor for initial programming of the control units and all of the car’s electronic systems. Avtotor and BAIC are only increasing their capabilities so far, and in the future many Chinese models will be located in Russia with a full technological cycle – welding, painting, assembly. That’s what the company says.
Today we recall that Russian dealers offer the X55 at prices close to 2,700,000 rubles. True, for the most part these are cars of the last year of release.
