70 rubles per ton: the price of gasoline AI-95 skyrocketed

All attempts by the authorities to stop the explosive growth of fuel costs in Russia do not lead to real results. Gasoline and diesel are also becoming more expensive.

AI-95 gasoline prices on the St. Petersburg International Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange (SPIMEX) on Friday, August 18, broke another record and confidently crossed the symbolic “bar” of 70,000 rubles per ton, reaching the figure of 70,123 rubles per 1000 kilograms of fuel. This is equivalent to more than 51 rubles per liter.

At the same time, gasoline AI-92 showed a symbolic drop in price – by 0.6% to 62,455 rubles. The cost of diesel fuel in the summer has slightly slowed growth for three consecutive weeks. It fell by an unremarkable 0.28% to 67,658 rubles per ton.

Earlier, in an attempt to halt the price hike, authorities required domestic motor fuel producers to raise the share of mandatory swap sales by 1%: petrol to 13% and diesel to 9.5%. But practice has shown that this did not significantly affect the saturation of the domestic Russian wholesale market for petroleum products: gray exporters, as before, continue to buy them in large quantities and send them abroad. The profitability of this company has grown particularly strongly recently due to the strong depreciation of the ruble.
