Chinese car giant SAIC enters Russia cautiously

The Russian market firmament has honored a new major player with its presence: the Chinese concern SAIC. So far he has entered quietly, having delivered several dozen cars of the English brand MG that he owns.

It seems that we have a distributor of the Anglo-Chinese brand MG: the Russian company IntelGo has signed an agreement with the Chinese. As one of the managers of the Russian company told the Autopotok Telegram channel, more than twenty cars were imported from China.

Two models are presented at MIMS: MG One for 3.5 million rubles and MG 7 (photo) for 4.18 million. Over time, they plan to receive full-fledged Russian OTTS for cars.

For reference, the state-owned Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) is the largest Chinese automaker, one of the Big Four China along with Changan, FAW and Dongfeng. In 2021, SAIC Motor topped the list of Chinese exporters with 697,000 vehicles shipped out of the country.

In addition to joint ventures with VW and GM, SAIC owns the Roewe, Maxus, Baojun, Wuling and Feifan brands. The most successful in Europe were MG cars, which the concern gained control in 2005.
