Changing the oil has now become a ‘one-pipe operation’, as the great Sherlock Holmes used to say: without even unscrewing the plug, the oil is ‘removed’ from the engine via the dipstick by means of a pump, the filter is replaced, a new one is poured in and “so it was”. A little longer – the old-fashioned way, through the drain neck. They used to practice all sorts of stupid things like removing the crankcase or, God forbid, topping up flushing oil, where the engine had to be warmed up minimally, then drained again and only then filled with “working” oil.
But in the modern, ultra-fast world, these remnants of the past were abandoned. And why waste time and money? It’s one thing that the engine “grabbed” water and got an emulsion, it’s not a sin to wash it, but why look for good – good in a normal situation? Drained – Filled – Gone!
However, few modern drivers remember that when replacing up to half a liter of old slurry with its dirt, chips and other delights remains in the engine. Sometimes – a very solid consistency and a large fraction. And it will certainly go straight into the cylinders along with the new lubricant. There is only one way to remove it completely – disassemble the drive unit. Most of it – by removing the crankcase and washing all the intestines.
Flushing is not necessary for the sake of the engine itself, but to clean that crankcase, by simply raking out the dirt that gradually accumulates year after year. The older the car, the bigger it is. Therefore, when buying a used car, you should always rinse.
Not because there was once an unfamiliar oil (all motor oils can be mixed without fear and reproach), but only for the sake of the most careful cleaning of the power unit and its “crankcase”. It certainly won’t be superfluous. As well as a similar operation at every, say, third lubricant change.
In addition: it is not necessary to buy special compounds for these purposes: on the Web and in the same “Auchan” there are offers of motor oils, which will not turn a hand to drive the car in our conditions. But the price is up to 600 rubles per bus! For lubricating the chain of a chainsaw and a bicycle, as well as for rinsing the engine – that’s it!
