For royal pleasure: test drive the new Geely Monjaro Exclusive
Geely’s flagship crossover with the factory designation KX11 arrived in Russia under the name Monjaro, which sounds melodious to the Russian ear. And having postponed the launch by almost a year, it was not late at all – even despite the powerful attack of the “heavenly” competitors on our brother, “Monjaro” remains one of the most advanced in its technology, mannerism and style. That’s why they want him. And when performed by Exclusive it’s even better. And here’s why.

It seems that this Chinese crossover is not called the most beautiful in its segment for nothing. Elegant lines are organically interwoven into an aggressive silhouette and emphasize the car’s assertive character. The image is crowned with aesthetic creases in the bumpers, a textured hood and a massive radiator grille with vertical parts. Diode-cut optics and dynamic lighting are no less impressive than an SMS notification about replenishing a bank account. What is it: Geely Monjaro is luxurious, just like Alla Pugacheva before she was born. Even Galkin will be jealous…

The interior of the Monjaro Exclusive is truly exclusive. The interior features Alcantara in a delicate emerald green color, decorative bronze elements, a huge meter-long interactive dashboard with three interconnected ‘touch’ displays and frameless horizontal air ducts for a three-zone ‘climate’ in the form of blades attached to the bottom are ground. edges. It’s beautiful, it’s creepy!

And how the controls are organized here: it’s just space. There is a minimum of classic keys: the “live” buttons are assigned only to the “back at home” control interface. Everything else is packed into the bowels of the main unit – yes, clearly not for old-fashioned citizens, for whom, however, a smartphone once seemed a bizarre and unearthly thing. As they say: it’s a matter of habit.

Armchairs with an excellent profile and a lot of settings will not result in pain in the lower back after a long journey, and amazing sound insulation and double glazing will not disturb the occupants of the cabin with extraneous sounds of passing life. The rear seat, supplemented with heating, can accommodate three tall riders comfortably, even if they both cross their legs. The width, adjustment range and almost three-metre wheelbase offer passengers a considerable amount of interior space.

Perhaps, for complete happiness, the residents of the gallery do not have enough monitors of their own to while away the time watching the next “Santa Barbara”. But the front passenger can easily turn on a TV series themselves, taking control of the multimedia from the driver. And the pilot has plenty of his own “entertainment”: all-round cameras, automatic parking, adaptive cruise control with the ability to get through traffic jams and the ability to display other cars directly on the instrument console. Overall: rejoice and ride. Or don’t drive…

Among other royal pleasures in the Geely Monjaro Exclusive, the ventilation of the front seats, a color projector on the windshield, warm wipers and steering wheel, wireless charging for smartphones and the coveted USB holes for those who did not have enough, as well as bassy acoustics of Bose with ten speakers spread throughout the cabin.

Packed with all kinds of sensors, radars, cameras: the package of security systems could accommodate assistants when driving on a slope, assistants for collision avoidance, emergency braking functions and monitoring of lane markings, as well as monitoring of dangerous objects around the entire perimeter of the car, including protection of cyclists against the door in the parking lot. And mentioning all kinds of Start-Stop and independent switching of low beam headlights is as absurd as mentioning the life achievements of the hero of “Zhmurok” Alexei Panin.

The Chinese Monjaro is based on the Swedish architecture that Geely took over after purchasing the almost defunct Volvo. Frankly, this is the best “cart” among those that the “heavenly” automotive industry now offers us. The product turned out to be really balanced and tasty. The suspension gives the two-meter-long crossover stability in the corners, smoothing out the sway on uneven surfaces.

Perhaps the car only vibrates at sharp asphalt joints and potholes beyond, making drivers nostalgic for school discos. However, the “dancing” could have been less impressive if Monjaro hadn’t had size 20 “slippers.” But beauty, as usual, requires sacrifice: it doesn’t matter – let’s dance!

Under the driver’s tailbone are two liter turbo engines, which honestly deliver all their 238 forces. We already know this engine from the Geely Tugella cross coupe and no advertising slogans are needed for it. The unit, in a duet with an eight-shot hydromechanical Aisin “automatic”, “shoots” fervently from a standstill and does not upset you during prolonged overtaking at high speed. There is enough pulling power to become the hero of a photo from a camera that records traffic violations in a few seconds.

The all-wheel drive is responsible for the new BorgWarner clutch, which, unlike the Tugella, has lost an electromagnet, whose place is taken by a pump – more durable and productive. So tempting for off-road adventures! In addition, the electronics allow the driver to disable the stabilization system until it comes into operation later.

However, it is better not to go into the wild jungle with the metrosexual Monjaro – despite the relatively short overhangs and 210 mm of ground clearance, this is still a crossover, not an all-terrain vehicle. And besides, for 5,000,000 rubles, which is much easier to bury in the ground than to earn them. On the other hand, those who don’t take risks don’t drink champagne. The important thing is not the other way around.
