Such a dead-end branch of the development of the automotive industry as electric vehicles is flooding the planet in full swing. Even despite the fact that the impracticality, environmental friendliness and insecurity of this type of transport are increasingly emphasized not only by experts not engaged by car manufacturers, but also by ordinary users. Unfortunately, Russia, where expensive electric cars seem like a complete utopia, remain a toy for the rich and an excellent way for officials to spend budget money, does not lag behind global trends in this area. Evidence of this is the appearance of another “electric train” from the company Motorinvest, which produces Chinese Dongfeng electric trains under the Evolute brand. Next up is the i-VAN electric van, which has become the fifth model in the brand’s line.

The ‘latest’ and ‘most innovative’ car is, upon closer examination, centuries old, as both the body and platform are borrowed (of course with modifications and upgrades) from Mitsubishi Space Gear of the last century (car length – 5135 mm, wheelbase – 3000 mm ). And the musty chassis are all from the same Japanese.

However, the manufacturer emphasizes that “the new product is perfect for use for business and commercial purposes, as well as for daily trips around the city with the whole family or a large group.” Other advantages of the ‘Evolution’ are the linear control of traction and power (122 hp and 300 Nm of torque), as well as excellent road holding. Plus a “decent” range of 400 km, which in winter conditions immediately increases to a maximum of 200-250 km.

So the car, frankly, cannot seriously compete with the same passenger vans of the Gorky Automobile Plant or the “Chinese” with traditional internal combustion engines. And potential customers are unlikely to “buy” eco-leather in the cabin and such “rare” options as air conditioning, electric windows, parking sensors, a rear-view camera, a 10-inch multimedia system and a function of warning pedestrians about the approach of an electric vehicle. Moreover, the price, which will be announced closer to the start of sales, is likely to bite.
