The statistics are more than sad and threatening. For example, a survey by the Rosgosstrakh company and the Avtodom Group of Companies shows that every fifth respondent is in an emergency situation due to personal mobility devices (PIMs), and every fourth domestic motorist has had an accident involving the infamous PIMs. As a result, 61% of motorists have a negative attitude towards drivers of bicycles, scooters and other unicycles. This is mainly due to the fact that, according to motorists, the same scooter riders exceed the speed limit, do not wear reflective clothing in poor visibility, drive two scooters at the same time, cross a zebra crossing at high speed instead of on foot, do not know and obey the traffic rules not about it
– Electric scooters, hoverboards, unicycles – all this is certainly modern, fashionable, youthful and, in certain situations, convenient and mobile. However, in some cases it is very dangerous, especially in the hands of novice users. Moreover, it is not only dangerous for the SIM drivers themselves, but also for the road users around them: pedestrians, motorists and other cyclists. Unfortunately, along with the increase in the number of SIM cards on the roads, the statistics of accidents involving these cards are also increasing. We have already come across damage to cars due to such accidents and have taken the car for repair. As a rule, these were minor external defects, but if the damage was caused to a car, it is easy to guess what injuries a pedestrian might suffer if a SIM card hits him. Many countries already have laws regulating the use of personal mobility devices in detail and the introduction of restrictive measures regarding SIM in Russia is also a matter of time. In the meantime, we can only advise all road users to at least be extremely careful on the roads and follow traffic rules,” said Anna Utkina, director of communications at Avtodom Group of Companies.
