The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China has published preliminary information about the upcoming new product – Jetour Shanghai L9. The car turned out to be bigger than Chery Tiggo 9.
Until recently, Jetour (a sub-brand of Chery) exclusively produced models with combustion engines: X70, X90, Dasheng and the recently launched Traveller. Now the brand is turning its face to the hybrid segment: the Shanhai L9 is expected to be officially presented to the public in the fourth quarter of 2023. The dimensions of the car are 4862x1925x1784 mm and the wheelbase is 2850 mm. This is slightly more than the largest Chery – Tiggo 9. Based on this circumstance, we cannot exclude the possibility that the Shanhai L9 is a technical “twin brother” of another large SUV from Chery, which is being prepared for release next spring – a model currently known under the working index T28.
Unlike the latter, the appearance of the Jetour Shanghai L9 is now visible to everyone. The front of the car is visually dominated by a large black mesh grille with inverted silver triangles on it and multi-level LED headlights next to it. The rear part is made in the shape that has now become almost standard for Chinese crossovers: simply shaped lights are connected by a narrow brake light. The lower part of the bumper is black. Below this are two narrow exhaust pipes. The interior design and range of possible options for the Shanhai L9 have not yet been revealed.
But the power plant is known to use the Chery Kunpeng DHT hybrid system. It consists of a one and a half liter turbo engine with a power of 156 hp. s., electric motor and lithium battery. The minimum fuel consumption of the car is 1.49 l/100 km.
