TASS reports that AVTOVAZ plans to organize the assembly of LADA cars in Ethiopia, citing the words of the ambassador of this African country to Russia, Cham Ugal Uriat:

— We will see Russian LADA cars in the near future in neighboring countries, as they have already signed a contract with one of the Ethiopian companies. These cars will be produced in Ethiopia, the diplomat said.

He added that domestic vehicles can also be supplied to countries such as Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya and Somalia. Moreover, the ambassador expressed hope that LADA production in Ethiopia will begin in the near future, highlighting that some other Russian automakers have also started showing interest “in traveling to Ethiopia to build assembly lines.”

The diplomat clarified that two more Russian companies are conducting consultations with the Ethiopian side on this issue. But the ambassador did not say which models AVTOVAZ will produce for the African market.
