Skoda has revealed the appearance of the second generation Kodiaq crossover. The new design not only emphasizes the practicality of the model, but also improves aerodynamics, noted the brand’s chief designer Oliver Stefani.

The second generation Kodiaq receives the first elements of the new Modern Solid corporate identity, the main principle of which Skoda calls the advantage of functionality over form. The car will be built on the MQB platform in the modernized Evo version – the length of the crossover will increase to 4758 mm (+61 mm), the height – to 1657 mm (+4 mm), and the width will be reduced up to 1864mm (-18mm).

The new Kodiaq gets a more prominent hood, expressive wheel arches, massive bumpers and wheels from 17 to 20 inches. The crossover will be the first Skoda model with second-generation matrix headlights, and the rear will be decorated with new lights, visually connected by a red stripe with the Skoda lettering in the center.

The larger dimensions promise even more space in the cabin, which, as before, will offer a choice of five or seven seats. The interior will be almost identical to that of the new Superb: a 10-inch instrument cluster and a 13-inch multimedia display on the center console. The selector lever moves towards the steering column – just like in a Mercedes-Benz.

The equipment also includes Smart Dials, wireless smartphone charging, Travel Assist cruise control, DCC adaptive suspension and a head-up display. The world premiere of the new generation Skoda Kodiaq will take place on October 4.
