Used electric vehicles were sold 19% more in the same period: 6,900 units. The growing popularity of electric cars is confirmed by a joint study of Auto.ru and Edison Technologies – in August, the demand for electric cars among Auto.ru users increased almost sixfold compared to the same period in 2022.

— In August, the year-over-year increase was almost six times for new cars and 68% for used cars. Demand for new cars tripled year-on-year in January-August and doubled for used cars,” said Alexey Mukhanov, head of the research and customer analysis group at Auto.ru.

According to the authors of the study, the popularity of electric vehicles is related to the expansion of the range, especially from Chinese manufacturers. For example, the top five best-selling new electric cars are Zeekr, Evolute, Volkswagen, Tesla and Hongqi. In addition, buyers of electric trains are entitled to benefits; they do not have to pay transportation taxes for the first three years of ownership and pay for traveling on toll roads.
