The Russian market for new passenger cars welcomes another “heavenly” player: the Jaecoo brand, a sub-brand of Omoda, which in turn is a sub-brand of Chery. Oh, these Chinese nesting dolls! The first sign was the J7 crossover: dealers willing to sell the car at a price of 3 million rubles have already started accepting orders. But what can this model offer the consumer? The answer to this question was found by the AvtoVzglyad portal, which attended the presentation of the new product.

Jaecoo is a purely export and very young brand, which was presented to the general public at the Shanghai Motor Show last spring. In China, the cars are included in the Chery line, just like the Omoda cars, which were introduced to our market under a separate brand. Anyway: let’s leave these marketing games aside and move on to the J7 crossover, which begins Jaecoo’s Russian history.

The ‘Seven’ is based on the same modular platform as the well-known Chery Tiggo 7 Pro. The newcomer also borrowed power units from its brother – a 1.6-liter turbo engine from the ACTECO line and a 7-speed “robot” with a double “wet” clutch (the Tiggo 7 Pro with the prefix Max has this version). It’s true that if the ‘Chery’ engine is strangled to a tax-friendly 150 hp, the ‘Jake’ (emphasis on the last syllable, by the way) develops 186 hp. Of.

Like the Tiggo 7 Pro Max, the Jaecoo J7 is sold in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions. The four-wheel drive crossover is equipped with an intelligent ARDIS system, i.e. All Road Drive Intelligent System. But the AutoVzglyad portal has already talked about it in detail here, so we will not repeat it.

Four trim levels are offered, and even the base Lifestyle boasts an impressive list of options. These include LED optics, keyless entry, remote engine warming, cruise control, a start-stop system and wireless smartphone charging. The first version of the car is offered at a price of 2,999,900 rubles. The richer Ultimate version asks 3,229,900, Active – 3,269,900 and the more expensive Supreme – 3,409,900.

The Jaecoo J7 gets involved in a rather tough fight: it enters a segment where it will have to fight for the sympathy and wallets of customers not only with foreign competitors, but also with its own “relatives” in the extensive line of the Chery- concern . With the same Tiggo 7 Pro Max, with Jetour X70 Plus, which, however, is slightly larger, with Omoda C5, less powerful, but similar in size. What are his chances?

If we remember how Omoda started its Russian journey – the one that quickly became one of the TOP 10 in sales of new cars among all brands represented in our country – then we can confidently assume that the Jaecoo J7 is buyer will find. In any case, thanks to the excellent appearance and the price, which is more than sufficient for the equipment level. Moreover, the domestic market, as practice shows, is now ready to swallow absolutely everything, and the demand for Chinese cars, no matter how you twist or scold them, continues to grow confidently.
