As Izvestia reports, the story of long-term taxi parking in the courtyards of residential buildings has continued to develop. Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Boris Chernyshov (LDPR) came up with an initiative to ban parking of checkered cars in residential areas for more than half an hour. Deputies will discuss it during the fall session.
— The topic received an incredible response during the Moscow mayoral elections. It certainly affects major cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg. Therefore, we will focus on the big cities, and the industry should not suffer,” the deputy noted.
The idea still needs to be discussed with interested federal ministries and regional authorities. The traffic police said they “conceptually support the proposal to introduce restrictions on taxi parking in courtyards,” but noted that “the initiative needs to be developed.” Chernyshov believes that half an hour is enough “to wait for customers, drop off passengers and unload their luggage, as well as solve individual problems of a taxi driver if he happens to be in a residential area on personal business. ”
