A batch of Chinese crossovers Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max will be produced at the former Volkswagen plant in Kaluga. True, this is just a screwdriver assembly, which most likely will not be continued.

According to the Russian Automobile Telegram channel, the former Volkswagen plant in Kaluga will produce a batch of 120 Chinese Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max crossovers. The machines will be manufactured as part of a screwdriver assembly, rather than as a complete production cycle, with questionable prospects for renewal. The contract between Chery and AGR has already been signed and the first cars will roll off the assembly line in December – as promised by the governor of the Kaluga region, Vladislav Shapsha.

Last summer, he said that the former Volkswagen plant, which produced Tiguan, Polo and Skoda Rapid until spring 2022, would return to work before the end of the year, with the help of a certain partner from a friendly country. After the German brand left the domestic market, the Kaluga plant acquired the holding company Avilon through its subsidiary Art-Finance, and the official distributor of the Volkswagen Group Rus concern turned into the Russian AGR Automotive Group.
