The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced a recall for 3.3 million Hyundai, Kia and Genesis vehicles. It turns out that the ABS unit in these cars is potentially susceptible to brake fluid leakage, which can cause a short circuit and fire. The problem was found on thirteen Hyundai and Genesis models, as well as ten Kia models.
As Gazeta.Ru reports with reference to the Rosstandart press service, a “notice of non-compliance of the product with the requirements of technical regulations” is being prepared for official representatives of Hyundai and Kia in Russia.
Upon receipt, they are obliged to check this information and provide the results to Rosstandart. If information about the fire risk is confirmed, a program of measures must be developed and agreed with the department.
