The car jerks, the engine does not start the first time, the speed fluctuates and hundreds of other symptoms indicate improper throttle function. “Tidy!” – the banking and garage experts will exclaim, and in theory they are right. But only in theory. And how it works in practice, the AvtoVzglyad portal explains.

Low-quality fuel and mediocre service, based on savings and analogue spare parts chosen on the basis of “cheaper for me”, in combination with use in urban conditions, perform real “miracles” with an internal combustion engine. In the bad sense of the word: delicate and sensitive units “die” much earlier than they should, and more advanced structures behave provocatively and strangely. Of course everyone is to blame except us, but we have to drive. And here begins the long journey through car services.

We are already used to the fact that the official dealer has one answer to everything: a replacement of a large unit. Of course, why repair a device when you can sell the same one from a warehouse at exorbitant prices? We are politely silent about the prices “both here and there”; it’s a shame to write something like that without the “18+” stamp.

There is only one option left: garages, “unisex services”, where both Solaris and Maybachs are repaired with one key. The keys are the same and the methods are also the same. Has the accelerator pedal started to drizzle? Cleaning! Without looking, without checking, without reading recommendations, we clean. It won’t get worse, they say, but clean is better than new. But the probability of the car starting after such maintenance is extremely low.

The fact is that the throttle valves are really cleaned, there is no cheating here. But the operation itself has many caveats: the device is extremely sensitive and must be maintained extremely carefully, using a special fluid. “Chemistry” doesn’t work? When we arrived we went straight to the shot. No brushes, sponges, cotton wool or even emery cloth should be used. There should be no gap between the body and the “nickel”, and any scratch provides additional air supply – read, change the “recipe” of the fuel mixture.

Moreover, soot often blocks precisely this inflow. Take it away and the system is ruined. A slightly dirty throttle body can indeed be washed, but if you try this on a five or six year old car in which this unit has never been removed, you may want to go straight to the auto parts store. Moreover, on foot.

In the accelerator pedal, a strong build-up of carbon deposits is a reason for replacement. There’s no point in cleaning it because after that it’s just a shot. And redecorating requires washing, so it’s just a double payment for the same operation.

Dusty? For me, of course, the engine says ‘thank you’. A pile of dirt? We remove it, take it to a specialist, sort it, put it – it is not difficult and the instructions can be found on the Internet. In some cases it is enough to simply “drive” the engine, and sometimes it is enough to perform a simple procedure of several successive actions.
