Without exaggeration, deliveries of the famous Hardox steel, which is produced by the Swedish company SSAB, have stopped in Russia. This steel was actively used by dump truck manufacturers around the world, including Russia. The AvtoVzglyad portal found out whether the cessation of supplies means the end of production of the trucks themselves.
In fact, domestic bodybuilders have nothing to fear: the steel of the Novolipetsk plant NLMK is in no way inferior to the Swedish Hardox in quality. In addition, there are other suppliers of high-quality rolled metal products in the country – MMK from Magnitogorsk and Severstal from Cherepovets, reports Autoreview with reference to the company Becema.
But there are other problems: in Russia there is no equipment to bend the thickest 12 mm thick plates for rock trucks. In addition, recently, for unknown reasons, Russian manufacturers have started supplying 6 mm thick steel with a lower hardness than required. And the “eight” greatly burdens the design.
Of course, these shortcomings can be remedied. But the main one – the lack of a European chassis for the installation of cisterns – remains. It is possible that deliveries can be resumed via the parallel import system.
In addition, Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturers are now actively coming to Russia. Let’s say that in April total sales of “heavenly” brands grew by 95%. The equipment of the Ural and KamAZ brands also differs well.
