Average Russian prices on the secondary car market confidently exceed the bar that is now considered the upper limit of the segment of new “budget” cars. In this area, Russia’s AVTOVAZ is now, for obvious reasons, in splendid isolation.
At the same time, in some regions of the country, for example, in megacities, the cost of an average used car has become very close to the most affordable Chinese models, confidently leaving behind the market segment occupied by domestic passenger cars. Unfortunately, the reasons why this uncontrollable price increase could stop ‘right tomorrow’ are not visible.
Statistical calculations from various sources, which capture the state and trends of the domestic used vehicle market, often do not completely coincide. But in general terms they give a fairly objective picture of what is happening.
We analyzed various data and tried to answer the question: when will used car prices in the country slow down and will the car market reach some kind of equilibrium?
