Skoda presented the new generation Kodiaq. The crossover has noticeably increased in length and for the first time in the history of the model became a plug-in hybrid, and also received a suspension with adaptive shock absorbers. Surprisingly, diesel engines remain in the engine range.

Although the new Skoda Kodiaq remains on the old MQB platform, it has changed visually: the dimensions are now 4758x1864x1657 mm, which is 61 mm longer, but 18 mm less wide and 17 mm lower than its predecessor. All the increase went to the overhangs – the wheelbase remained the same. But the trunk volume has been increased – by 75 liters in the five-seater version (910 l) and by 80 liters – with three rows of seats (845 l). At the front, the new crossover can be recognized by the light-emitting diode bridge that protrudes through the radiator grille and visually combines the headlights.

A 10-inch dashboard screen is now included as standard and the multimedia system display has grown to 13 inches. The gearbox selector has been moved under the steering wheel. Unlike a similar solution from Mercedes-Benz, to change mode you do not have to turn it up and down, but rotate it on its axis. Another new feature are three rotating climate buttons with small displays.

New technical features include adaptive dampers and a plug-in hybrid. The 1.5 TSI turbo engine was supplemented with an electric motor, resulting in a total power of 204 hp. Of. and a range of up to 100 km in pure electric mode. The battery capacity is 25.7 kWh. The plug-in Kodiaq is equipped with a 6-speed DSG gearbox and front-wheel drive.

Petrol engines – mild hybrid with a 1.5 TSI engine of 150 hp. Of. and 2.0 TSI with 204 hp. Skoda did not forget the diesel engines that fell into disfavor – the crossover will receive 2.0 TDI engines in 150 and 193 hp versions. Of. with a “robot” with 7 gears. All-wheel drive is only available on the most powerful petrol and diesel versions in the range.

The start of sales of the new product in Europe is scheduled for early 2024 and recommended retail prices will be announced at the same time. The updated first-generation Skoda Kodiaq is now on sale at prices ranging from 3,750,000 to 7,059,000 rubles, depending on the configuration.
