Another “heavenly” player has entered the domestic car market – the Hongqi company, which represents the segment of premium, even luxury cars. In China, top Communist Party officials drive cars of this brand, but what about in Russia? Does the brand plan to compete for places in the fleets of Russian officials? What about imposing competition on Aurus? Hongqi brand manager Stanislav Ionitsky answered these questions for the AvtoVzglyad portal.
According to a Hongqi representative, tenders for the supply of cars to government agencies of the company are certainly interesting, as are all kinds of departments as a sales market. Therefore, the brand will work in this direction. Yes, there is a nuance that blocks such an attractive path: the lack of localization. But even in the current situation, the Chinese plan to look for opportunities to enter this segment.
As far as competition with Aurus – cars made for the Russian government – is concerned, this is not yet the case. After all, the top officials of the People’s Republic of China use completely different cars – not the ones that the Hongqi company offered to domestic buyers. They are supplied with more luxurious, higher class models, which will not appear in our country – at least in the foreseeable future.
— In the future, such cars may even reach the Russian market. But now this is not what we want to focus on,” Hongqi brand manager Stanislav Ionitsky explained to the AvtoVzglyad portal.
