Turkey’s Car Sales Report for 2023 is Out: There’s a Ninefold Increase in Electric Vehicle Sales!

Association of Automotive Distributors and Mobility (OMD) shared the sales statistics of new cars and light commercial vehicles between January and September of the current year. Data shared shows there have been big jumps in sales of every car class compared to last year.

Especially in this period when we are starting to see electric vehicles everywhere. ODMD reportcontains data that makes this situation logical. Without further ado, let’s take a look at car sales with ODMD data.

There is a total increase of 64.8% compared to last year.

Looking at the data based on the same period of 2022 520,530 It looks like 100,000 vehicles were sold. This number will be in 2023 857,575 jumped to higher levels. Looking at cars and light commercial vehicles separately, we see that the number of cars has increased by 67%, from 399,224 units sold to 666,890. In the light commercial category, sales reached 190,685 from 121,306, an increase of 57.2%.

If we look at engine type, we see that petrol vehicles occupy the largest position in the market. The number of vehicles sold and market share are as follows:

Once again, compared to last year, petrol vehicles achieved a turnover increase of 60.6%, diesel vehicles 49.1 percent and LPG vehicles 9.8 percent. While this percentage is 71.4 percent for hybrid vehicles, it is 71.4 percent for electric vehicles. 862.8 percent happened.

For example, the growth in the share of electric vehicles on the market caused the share of petrol models to fall from 69.9 percent to 67.2 percent.
