The Ukrainian conflict has revealed the need for Russian howitzers to increase their firing range. To conduct more effective counter-battery battles against NATO weapons at the disposal of the Ukrainian fascists.
Let’s make a reservation that we are talking mainly about self-propelled guns, since during the SVO their main advantage was revealed – the ability, after firing, to “dump” from a firing position faster than towed guns, before a “reaction” from the enemy arrives.
NATO self-propelled guns can hit targets at a range of up to 40 km. Their Russian 152mm competitors unfortunately look worse against this background. Thus, the gun of the tracked “Akatsia” reaches 17.3 km, the “Msty-S” – a little more than 24 km, the monstrous “Gyacinth-S” can reach only 28.5 km.
Meanwhile, from 2016 onwards, almost not a single military parade on Moscow’s Red Square was complete without the participation of the Russian self-propelled wonder howitzer with a caliber of 152 mm – “Coalition-SV”.
It is built on the chassis of the T-90 tank and the 2A88 gun can fire at a range of up to 70 km (!) with an astonishing rate of fire of 16 rounds per minute. And it is precisely such weapons that we need today more than ever.
