There is not much demand in Russia for passenger cars of the Chinese brand JAC. Let’s say that if the leader of the “heavenly” segment – the Chery company – earned 234.7 billion rubles from the sale of its cars in January-September, then JAC – only 17.3 billion. However, this does not at all mean that the car manufacturer from Anhui province has no models that deserve attention. Take the crossover JS6, which debuted in our country at the end of last year.
Almost a year ago, the Chinese company JAC brought the successor to the well-known S5 model – the mid-sized crossover JS6 – to the Russian market. The car with dimensions of 4605/1890/1700 mm and a wheelbase of 2720 mm was called upon to replace popular SUVs such as the Toyota RAV4 and impose competition on its compatriot Geely Tugella.
JAC JS6, aimed at the Russian market, received a 1.5-liter turbo engine with a power of 174 hp. Of. and a maximum torque of 280 Nm. It was coupled to a six-speed ‘robot’ with two ‘wet’ clutches, although the Chinese once certified – of course, just in case – ‘mechanics’. The type of drive does not have to be selected: the front wheels are the drive wheels.
But the JAC JS6 has a fairly rich equipment. Even in the basic version of Comfort you will find LED DRLs, a multifunctional steering wheel that is adjustable not only in height, but also in reach (many “Chinese” have difficulty with this), leather upholstery, “glued” screens of the multimedia system and dashboard (each – 12.3 inches), heated front seats, cruise control, rear-view camera and many electronic assistants.
Another question is that today you cannot buy a brand new JAC JS6 for less than 3 million rubles. And then this is the price that takes into account all possible special offers. Is the crossover worth the money? Will it disappoint in everyday use and weekend trips? What about the dynamics, ergonomics and stability of electronic assistants? Can you drive it off-road?
