Sales of new passenger cars in Russia have more than doubled

By the end of October 2023, 112,200 new passenger cars were sold in Russia – that is 2.6 times more than in the same month last year. Compared to September, this result seems more modest: the increase was about 2%.

As the Autostat agency reports, citing data from the PPK company and its own market segmentation, the market volume has remained above the 100,000 unit mark for the third month in a row and is a record since January 2022. More than 30% of all new passenger cars sold in October were LADA – 34,500 cars.

The most popular foreign brand was Haval with a result of 12,800 cars, followed by the “Chinese” – Chery (10,900 units), Geely (10,400 units) and Changan (6,400 units).

Among models, the lead is retained by LADA Granta with 18,500 cars, second place goes to LADA Vesta (7,000 units), and among foreign cars Haval Jolion (6,300 units) still leads. The top five also included two Russian SUVs: LADA Niva Travel (4,600 units) and Niva Legend (4,200 units).

At the end of 10 months of the year, 829,500 new passenger cars were sold – 60% more than between January and October 2022.
