The new Skoda Superb is officially presented – as before, the model is available in two body variants. Like the latest generation Kodiaq crossover, the car received an adaptive suspension and a hybrid power plant.
The “fourth” Superb is built on the MQB Evo platform – the new product retains the same wheelbase, but has become longer and larger. The trunk volume has noticeably increased: by 20 liters for the liftback (up to 645) and by 30 liters for the station wagon.
The design of the new product has been revealed before – in sketches, and now the manufacturer has emphasized that all the car’s body panels are new. Increasing the angle of the windshield improved aerodynamics: the drag coefficient was reduced by 10-15% (0.23 for the liftback and 0.25 for the station wagon).
Even the base Superb got a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10- or 13-inch touchscreen, depending on the version. The rest also became clear from the drawings.
The engine range is represented by three petrol engines ranging from 1.5 to 2.0 liters with a power of 150, 204 and 265 hp. Of. and 2.0-liter diesel engines with 150 and 193 hp. For the first time, the basic petrol engine is supplemented with a 48-volt starter generator. The gearbox is a 7-speed DSG robot and only the most powerful versions of the Superb get all-wheel drive.
A hybrid powertrain with plug-in battery is now only available for the Combi station wagon – which has a 1.5-liter turbo engine and an electric motor with a combined power of 204 hp. Of. and front-wheel drive. The battery capacity is 25.7 kWh. This Superb will travel more than 100 kilometers on electric power.
The new product is now produced not in the Czech Republic, but in Slovakia, and sales in Europe will start in the spring of 2024. In Russia you can still find new Skoda Superbs of the current generation for sale – the car costs from 2,681,000 to 5,190 ,000 rubles.
