Learning Niva, long Vesta, Chinese Zaporozhets and regular attacks on drivers: results of the week

The main newsmaker of the past week can safely be called AVTOVAZ: residents of Tolyatti opened sales of the LADA Vesta Sportline and Niva Travel with a leather interior, returned the Vesta SW with a 106 hp engine to the production line and fixed the launch date known for the Aura business sedan. Although there were other news: the premiere of the bi-fuel BAIC U5 Plus and Moskvich 6, the publication of awards for the Geely Emgrand, the proposal to revive the Zaporozhets, a warning about the deprivation of “rights” on the new M12 highway … And the details are in the video review of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

So AVTOVAZ put the “bold” LADA Vesta Sportline on the market, asking 2,175,000 rubles for it. And this despite the fact that a regular Vesta in sedan body is offered for € 1,240,000. For those who do not need to ‘drive’, but ‘checkered’, we recommend taking a closer look at the Niva Travel with a interior partially covered with leather – of course, made in Russia. And for station wagon enthusiasts: go for the Vesta SW with a 16-valve engine and a power of 106 hp.

If you are waiting for an ordinary, but foreign sedan, then you will probably be happy with the news that Geely is already very close to the Russian launch of the Emgrand model. The exact start date of sales has not yet been announced, but the prices are already known: for the most affordable configuration you will have to pay 2 million rubles, for the most expensive – almost 2.5 million. The engine is a 1.5-liter, 122 hp. Transmission: 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.

Taxi drivers will certainly also appreciate the Geely Emgrand. They might also like two new bi-fuel products. The Kaliningrad Avtotor presented to the public the Chinese BAIC U5 Plus sedan with gas equipment, and Moskvich presented the Moskvich 6 methane liftback. The main advantage is that LPG is installed directly at the factory, that is, owners do not need to independently certify such machines.

There is another interesting car news: a member of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy, Dmitry Vorona, proposed to revive the Zaporozhets brand. According to him, it is necessary to restore the assembly plant and produce a real “people’s car”. But Mr. Vorona did not specify which Chinese partner might be brought in for these purposes.

Finally, a few more ‘social’ news. Authorities in Moscow are launching a system that will monitor road emergencies using a neural network. It is expected that his area of responsibility will also include traffic congestion, accidents, fires, foreign objects and cars parked on the roadway. This is probably where it will start. But it is possible that in the future the system will “cooperate” with the traffic police.

Speaking of traffic police. State-owned Avtodor warned that traffic officers have started to “deprive” motorists of their “rights” on the new M12 motorway. A series of raids took place in September: police issued 12 warrants for violating license plate regulations. It is understood that the state-owned company is fed up with motorists evading fare payment by hiding their license plates, and is therefore involving law enforcement officials.

More details about the most important events in the country’s automotive life over the past week can be found in the video overview of the AvtoVzglyad portal, which can be found Here.
