Maintenance costs for foreign cars in Russia have increased by an average of 21% this year. Some models in the mass segment have become particularly expensive to run, for example the Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Rapid twins.
As Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports, Alexander Nosko, director of service of the car marketplace Fresh, talked about which mass segment models are the most expensive for owners. Domestic motorists drive an average of about 17,000 km per year, so during the five years of using the car they will have to make about six visits to the service center.
For the owner of a Volkswagen Polo it will cost 68,559 rubles, and a Skoda Rapid for the same period will need 85,225 rubles, the expert pointed out. The most expensive components when maintaining a car – besides fuel of course – are parts and consumables.
Optics for Korean models have become more expensive by 36-47% this year, and bumpers, headlights and catalytic converters for Japanese and French cars have increased in price by about 90%, Nosko noted. The wholesale cost of transmission and engine oils, in turn, has increased in value to 1,000 rubles per liter.
