The sixth generation Subaru Forester premiered at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The new crossover received a slightly retouched appearance, and the platform remained completely the same – from the fifth generation model.
From the outside, the ‘sixth’ Forester can be recognized by its deliberately angular design, new, complexly shaped lighting equipment and a noticeably larger radiator grille. In the current way, the headlights are connected by a black glossy strip, and ventilation ducts have appeared in the arches behind the front wheels. The windowsill line is now lower, the rear pillars have a different shape.
Dimensions, wheelbase and ground clearance remain the same – only the length and width of the SUV have barely been noticeably increased. The power plant has also been retained: the 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine lost two horsepower (now 183), while at the same time adding two Newton meters of torque (to 241). The transmission is the same: Lineartronic CVT and all-wheel drive. It is said that the suspension points in the chassis have been strengthened, the steering has been improved and the body has become 10% stiffer thanks to improved welding technology.
The interior is emphatically conservative; for example, a digital dashboard is not even in the options list. The touchscreen of the multimedia system is 7 inches in the basic version and 11.6 inches in more expensive equipment levels. The crossover received an all-round vision system and a modified EyeSight driving assistant complex with an additional camera. Sales of the sixth-generation Subaru Forester will start in the spring of next year and prices will be announced then.
