At the Guangzhou Motor Show, Toyota presented a new generation Camry for the Chinese market. It differs from the sedan presented in the USA not only in design, but also in engine line, which retains the good old naturally aspirated engine.
According to the AutoHome portal, the new generation Toyota Camry sedan will go on sale in China in March 2024. Just like the ‘American’ four-door, the ‘Chinese’ gets two design options for the front bumper. The version for China is distinguished by a different shape of the central and side air intakes, and the “sport” version has a black glossy decor in addition to the large mesh grille.
The interior of the Camry for China is more modest in appearance, but at the same time more modern – instead of a separate remote control for the climate settings, all adjustments are hidden in the touchscreen of the multimedia system, and there are noticeably fewer keys. But the main difference is that under the hood of the “Chinese” sedan there will be not only a hybrid power plant, but also a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine. Most likely, this is a 177 hp unit from the previous generation model.
The remaining features of the car for the Chinese market have not yet been reported – in particular, it is unknown whether the Camry will have all-wheel drive and how it will be implemented. Prices on the local market are also still a mystery – they will likely be released along with the features closer to the start of sales.
