Moscow City Hall has announced a tender for the construction of a new road bridge in the North-Western Administrative District. Judging from the documentation, it will be a four-lane structure of 250 meters with a mast on Novozavodskaya Street.
As Kommersant reports with reference to tender documents, the competition for the construction of a “multi-level transportation hub” and bridge construction was announced by the road and bridge construction department subordinate to the mayor’s office. The reinforced concrete structure should be placed on a single support – near Novozavodskaya Street. The bridge will be decorated with a cable-stayed element in the shape of a metal sail measuring 136 meters long and 21 meters high.
The ‘sail bridge’, as Sergei Sobyanin called it, should become a continuation of Novozavodskaya Street and, according to the mayor, ‘a decoration of the Mnevnikovskaya floodplains’. The length of the crossing reaches 250 meters, and together with access roads – 423 meters. Construction will require the demolition of six buildings, the largest of which is a five-story factory building built in 1961 on Novozavodskaya Street.
