Let’s start with a simple one: it flies to everyone. And for those who drive on the highway, and those who are stuck in traffic. Multiplying it by the dexterity of neighbors, and sometimes ours, with the dynamism of carts in supermarket parking lots, we get the result: a thin coat of paint full of holes, which begin to rust after the first rain.
The question of “visible/not visible” is everyone’s business, but one day, and very soon, a small chip turns into a through hole that takes the car from the paint shop to the body. And these are completely different prices: the cost of spare parts today is a horror movie. The only correct and relevant option for repairing chips is painting. For these purposes, any auto parts store already sells selected paint, and if you are lucky enough to own a “foreign car” – a forgotten word, but we will remember everything soon – you can contact an authorized dealer. By the way, the dealer version compares favorably with the usual – there is a varnish in the kit, which is very useful during repairs.
Also, in each set there is a brush, but it is better to immediately throw it away: it will not work to make the work “normal”, but the thinnest brushes for painting with watercolors suit us very well. Don’t forget the rust converter: it will be an excellent base and well capable of replacing the primer in our makeshift repair.
After you grab a bottle of paint in the desired color and a converter, with a thin brush and varnish, you are ready to go. First of all, we will wash and polish the affected element. Next, we treat rust: we apply “chemistry”, give it a few minutes to work according to the instructions, then wash it with running water and wipe dry. Then comes the painting.
Keep in mind that the paint tends to sag, so for the perfect result you will need two or three coats of “drying”. After the desired effect is achieved, we varnish it: also in two or three layers. And then there is pure magic. We polish the area with a “two thousandth” sandpaper on water. Gently, without pressure, always with a swab, not your hand. By the way, an excellent rod is obtained from a stove – it is soft enough, but it keeps its shape well. Then polish again.
With this approach, you will get a very dignified, almost invisible result – and this is the highest rating of the work – but at the same time you will not get into debt. Paint, varnish, rod, brush, sandpaper and rust converter are less than a thousand rubles. It’s expensive for one chip, but where have you seen a used car with only one chip?
