At the exhibition forum “Russia” – which takes place in the capital at VDNKh – the new domestic electric car L-Type was presented to the public for the first time. The vehicle, which previously appeared only in renderings, was produced by the Obukhov plant of the Almaz-Antey defense group.
According to Drom.ru, the L-Type prototype looks exactly the same as in the previously shown drawings. The official description at the exhibition states that this is “a compact electric city car for commercial fleets with short-distance transport: last mile delivery, closed area maintenance, urban service and sharing.” Formally it belongs to category L7 – heavy four-wheelers.
There are two versions of the L-Type: single (cargo) and double (passenger). The dimensions of the car are 2500 x 1500 x 1500 mm, the range on one battery charge is 183 km. The traction electric motor is powered by six battery modules with a capacity of 2.66 kWh. The main feature of the design is the Battery Swap technology for fast battery replacement. The same battery modules can be replaced in five minutes, allowing empty batteries to be charged in special cabinets.
Production start of the L-Type is scheduled for 2024.
