The Moskvich plant is considering the possibility of producing hybrid cars. The company noticed a decline in demand for electric vehicles and an increase in the popularity of hybrid cars in various configurations.

According to TASS, production director of the Moskvich plant Oleg Maslyakov said at the Russian industrial forum that the company is now “very carefully” studying hybrid technologies with the intention of introducing them in future models of the domestic brand.

— From communications with Chinese partners we see that the EV trend is decreasing. And at the moment, more and more hybrid car options are being born in the minds of engineers. “We are looking at the REV option, i.e. a hybrid with a longer range – up to 2000 km without the need for charging,” said the top manager.

It follows from the Moskvich presentation that the factory plans to start producing hybrids in the near future, before 2027. At the same time, the company plans to master the production of new M2 and M5 models from 2024 to 2027, as well as restyling existing cars.
