Ilya Rashkin, general director of Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus, suggested that the government give some preferences to electric light commercial vehicles. This concerns both advantages when purchasing cars and traffic rules.
In an interview with TASS, Mr. Rashkin noted that the maximum discount under the preferential car loan program is 925,000 rubles. He proposed to “differentiate this figure” for commercial vehicles and increase the discount to 1.5 million rubles. This initiative is already supported by GAZ, the head of Electric Vehicles Manufacturing Rus noted. Rashkin’s other idea is to allow light electric transport to run on special lanes, but only on domestic lanes.
Finally, the top manager considers it necessary to ‘exclude’ the mass of the battery from the permitted total mass – to remain in the LCV class, but have a formally greater payload. Then electric transport has the right to enter the Garden Ring, where the movement of cars weighing 2.5 tons is restricted. These proposals have already been submitted to the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
