As RIA Novosti reports, during a speech at the People Forum, the head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, compared the Togliatti factory with foreign companies. “Many people don’t even believe it, but the level of robotization and automation in a number of production facilities, in particular on the welding line of our flagship product line, the Granta car – we will probably produce 200,000 of them this year – the level of robotization amounts to 82%. The best factories in Japan were once 90% percent. This level of labor productivity is directly in AVTOVAZ itself,” he boasted.
Granta is the most affordable and most popular model both in the AVTOVAZ line and in the Russian car market as a whole. The factory did not mention 2022 production volumes by household, but Granta sales reached 95,900 cars last year. And the company’s plan for 2023 includes production of about 400,000 LADA cars.
