In November of the previous year, the Russians bought just over 458,000 used cars. Market volume fell by 0.5% compared to the last autumn month of 2022 – this is the first (and hardly the last) drop in secondary sales in 2023.
According to the Autostat agency, the last time negative dynamics were recorded in the used car market was in December 2022. From January to October 2023, the segment showed stable growth – and from May to August sales volumes increased not only compared of the same period last year, but also from month to month. By the end of the summer they reached a record value (551,300 cars) and in September the market started to decline.
November’s figure is not only lower than October’s (489,100 cars), but also last year’s – in November 2022 sales were 460,300 units. Only January and February recorded lower figures in 2023 (less than 400,000 cars per month).
During the entire eleven months of 2023, Russians bought 5.27 million used passenger cars – 20% more than in January-November 2022.
