According to Interfax, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said that the construction of the M-12 provided an impetus for the development of housing, industry and additional transport projects.

“Reliable transport arteries are of fundamental strategic importance for Russia, and therefore we agreed that our plans in the field of road construction must be fully implemented,” added Vladimir Putin, who took part in the opening ceremony of the Vostok highway via video. conference.

Traffic on the 810 kilometer long four-lane section of the highway started seven months ahead of schedule. Thanks to the opening, the travel time between Moscow and Kazan was reduced from 12 to 6.5 hours. True, you will have to pay for this – 4481 rubles without taking into account possible discounts. Permitted speed is 110 km/h. The Moscow-Kazan route passes through five regions: the Moscow, Vladimir and Nizhny Novgorod regions, Chuvashia and Tatarstan.
