The State Duma may extend the deadline for drivers to appeal court decisions

As the AvtoVzglyad portal has learned, Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, is ready to submit a bill to parliamentarians that would make life a little easier for motorists. It provides for an extension of the deadline for appealing against judicial decisions under the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.

Now, citizens of the country – including, of course, car owners – have only ten days to appeal after receiving a court decision from any authority, but this also applies to weekends. As a result, people often do not have time to challenge what they consider to be an unlawful verdict. By the way, the AvtoVzglyad portal recently talked about such a case.

Therefore, Mr Nilov considers it appropriate to consider only working days when calculating the appeal period. He stated this at the last meeting of the Expert Council on Automotive Safety under the Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs.

So part 1 of article will probably be changed. 30.3 of the Administrative Code, which states that the period for appealing against a judge’s decision is calculated in days. Although it may be worth taking more drastic measures: extending the deadline for challenging court decisions on “administrative” grounds from 10 to 30 days. Such an approach, says expert Petr Shkumatov, will solve once and for all the problem of “delay” in filing.
