BYD has announced the launch of a new sub-brand Xingkong (Starry sky or “starry sky”), under which ultra-luxury crossovers will be presented in the Chinese market. According to CarNewsChina.com, Xingkong models will become the most expensive not only in the BYD lineup, but also among all cars presented in the country (even the representative Hongqi). The debut of the firstborn Xingkong is expected at the end of 2022, and sales will begin in the first quarter of 2023.

CarNewsChina.com has revealed that the Xingkong will have two models with hybrid and electric powertrains in the first phase. According to preliminary estimates, they will ask for them from 800 thousand to 1.5 million yuan (3.5-6.6 million hryvnia at the current exchange rate). If compared by the upper bar, then the price will surpass even the crossovers of the Hongqi brand, which is called the “Chinese Bentley”.

So far, there are only spy photos of the car. But this is a test silt with a temporary body, therefore, the pictures do not carry any information, except that the model is already being tested on ordinary roads.

In recent years, there are more and more premium sub-brands in China. For example, BAIC has Jihu, Dongfeng has launched Lantu, Changan has Avita, Great Wall has Salon, and Geely has Zeekr.
