Geely reported a 20% increase in global car sales

Total sales of all Geely brands in 2023 amounted to 2.79 million vehicles. The popularity of electric cars and hybrids has grown by more than 51% in the past year – to 980,000 cars, which represents 35% of the total volume of passenger cars sold.

According to Geely’s press service, sales of the brands Geely, Lynk & Co, Zeekr, Volvo, Polestar, Proton, Lotus, smart, Radar, LEVC and Farizon have set a new record – for the sixth year in a row the company sold more than 2,000 ,000 cars.

Geely sold 1.68 million cars in 2023 (+18% compared to the 2022 result). Lynk & Co – 220,250 units. (+22%), Zeekr – 118,685 units (+65%), Proton – 154,611 (+9.3%). Lotus immediately added 1,300% on an annual basis, but the holding company did not disclose absolute figures. Volvo sold a record 708,716 cars, Polestar – 54,600 electric cars. Smart added about 70,000 electric trains, and other Geely brands also added volume.

In the coming year, the Chinese expect an increase in demand, especially for electrified cars. For example, Geely has set itself the goal of increasing turnover by 18% compared to 2023, and Zeekr even hopes to double the current result. The main challenge for Polestar is to improve profitability and increase annual volume to 150,000 units by 2025.
