As Kommersant reports with reference to a representative of the State Inspectorate for Road Safety, as part of the “regulatory guillotine”, a meeting of the “Road Safety” working group was held at the Analytical Center under the Government of the Russian Federation. It all started with the fact that during the November meeting of the President with members of the Public Chamber, his representative Alexander Kholodov proposed revising the current traffic rules and no longer making targeted changes to them, as has generally been done in recent years. Putin agreed and gave appropriate instructions to the government, which in turn delegated this work to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The traffic police stressed that the “comprehensive revision” of the rules should be approached with caution, and that department officials have “serious work” ahead of them when writing changes. Representatives of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management previously expressed skepticism about the initiative of the Public Chamber and called for “no sudden movements”, limiting themselves to only targeted changes.
