As reported by Forbes.kz, the General Director of the Agency for Monitoring and Analysis of the Automobile Market (AMAAR), Artur Miskaryan, emphasized that Kazakhstan does not live only from exports: the lion’s share of new cars remains on the domestic market. In the eleven months of 2023, 175,000 cars were purchased in the republic, compared to 124,000 cars in 2022.
– It is important to understand that for official distributors and dealers operating in Kazakhstan under current conditions, deliveries to Russia entail direct risks of secondary sanctions. And even in the absence of current restrictions regarding the Russian market by some international players, distribution and sales are clearly differentiated by the brand itself on a regional basis,” Miskaryan said.
Let’s add that according to the Autostat agency, in all of 2023, 1,093,800 passenger cars were imported into Russia, and there were 706,700 new cars (under 3 years old). The main suppliers are China, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. As for used cars, they mainly come from Japan, Belarus and South Korea.
