According to Belarusian media, the BelGee factory will acquire licenses to produce two more models of the Chinese brand Geely in 2024. The X70 index gets the well-known Atlas Pro crossover, and the S50 gets the Emgrand sedan, which appeared in Russia relatively recently.
Representatives of the BelGee factory reported to the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko about preparations for the launch of production of two new models under their own brand. The X70 model will be the Geely Atlas Pro crossover and the S50 will be the Emgrand sedan. The latter is sold in Russia with a 122 hp naturally aspirated engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, and in the neighboring republic with a 103 hp engine and a CVT. The set of equipment levels is also different.
Both models are already produced at BelGee, but the license will allow Belarusians to produce cars under their own brand, deepen localization and even change the design without coordination with the Chinese – in general, the company is basically given complete carte blanche.
So last year the factory acquired a license to produce the pre-restyling Geely Coolray as an X50 model. After that, BelGee started locating wheels, glass and batteries, and in the future the plan is to master stamping body parts.
