Two new domestic brands are about to appear on the Russian car market, the next generation Geely Atlas, and later the big Chery Tiggo 9. Second-hand cars are returning to pre-Covid-19 crisis levels, while used Chinese cars are astonishingly expensive. And electric cars are driving for free on the highways again. All details are in the video review of the AvtoVzglyad portal.

Last week, the head of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, announced the launch of a completely new brand, and now it has become known what exactly it will offer customers. Drum roll – Chery Tiggo 7 Pro crossover! Insiders claim that the Tolyatti people have reached an agreement with these Chinese. The St. Petersburg factory has already patented the logo for the new brand; sales start in the spring.

Well, since we remembered Chery. Representatives of the brand’s Russian office confirmed to the AvtoVzglyad portal that the large crossover Tiggo 9 will enter our market before the end of 2024. To be precise, this should happen in the second half – most likely in the fall.

But the new generation Geely Atlas is already arriving in showrooms: representatives of dealer centers say that they will start distributing cars to customers from February 1. That is, full sales have not yet started, but the configurations and prices are known: for the crossover in the basic version they asked 3.2 million rubles.

And a little later we will probably surprise our favorite Solaris, Rio and Cretas in car showrooms – their production has already resumed at the former Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg. Under the terms of the agreement, the new owner of the company cannot use the original trademarks (Hyundai and Kia, respectively). But a solution to this problem has been found.

What happens on the secondary side? Analysts summarized 2023 results and concluded that the market has returned to pre-Covid levels, driving volume up 17%. At the same time, 80% of sales came from cars older than 7 years, and the title of the most popular used car was regained by the Ford Focus. Meanwhile, ‘Chinese’ cars are rapidly becoming more expensive with mileage – they have risen in price by 102% in the past year.

And finally, good news for the few owners of electric vehicles: the campaign of unprecedented generosity, which implies free travel on highways for electric trains, has been extended until 2024. It is true that owners of “environmentally friendly” cars can only move freely on federal, not on regional highways…
