According to the metropolitan government’s website, the changes affected “high-traffic streets near large residential complexes, shopping and business centers.” Thanks to this, motorists can quickly find free parking spaces to leave their cars near their homes, according to the Moscow Ministry of Transport.
In addition, officials announced a new expansion of the coverage area for parking permits – exactly one month later, on February 22, it will include another 31 street sections, including the neighborhood of individual houses. Their addresses can be viewed on the unified transport portal.
As usual, the Ministry of Transport does not forget to add that paid parking “offers local residents the opportunity to have priority when choosing a spot close to their home, because space becomes available more quickly.” In the eleven years that such parking lots have existed in Moscow, “chaotic parking has disappeared,” the department assures.
“As a result, pedestrians, motorists and public transport can move safely through the city and emergency vehicles now respond to calls twice as quickly,” the metropolitan government emphasizes.
