Viktor Pokhmelkin, chairman of the Motorists’ Movement of Russia, said he was categorically against simplified versions of cars, which, for example, AVTOVAZ plans to produce. Apparently, the public figure is ignoring hundreds of ordinary car factory workers who risk being out of work in the event of ongoing problems with the supply of components to the assembly line. Yes, and on the consumer, who has actually lost the opportunity to buy a new car, he is letting it go ,,,
“What is it – a car without airbags? This is a killing machine. I believe that if we are considered a civilized country, we should simply ban the production of such machines. Cars without airbags, without ABS cannot be unloaded. This is my opinion of principle,” said Mr Pokhmelkin in the broadcast of the radio station “Speaking Moscow”.
According to him, people in cars without airbags die six times more often than with airbags. So it’s true, but in the current circumstances, this is all very much like the personal PR of a politician half-forgotten in Russia.
After all, the expert probably knows very well that all Russian car manufacturers face enormous difficulties. There are few ways out of the crisis: release simplified versions of cars, or simply stop the conveyor belt and lay off staff. The latter will be much more painful and will be accompanied by a social explosion.
And simplified versions of cars can support production and increase sales, because they will be cheaper. Low-income people who have long dreamed of having a personal car will finally be able to buy one.
